Counselling or working with a youth worker is an excellent way to gain a better understanding of your substance dependence issues, and to explore how best to deal with them.

It’s often much easier talking to an impartial professional than sharing your thoughts with someone you know. A youth worker is not there to judge you, nor share what you’ve told them with anyone else. They’re trained to give you the advice and guidance that is best suited to you and your situation, and support you in reaching your goals.

The tools and coping mechanisms learned while in a youth Drugs or Alcohol program and working with a youth worker can help you to feel more in control of your life. You might learn how better to deal with stress, anxiety or anger, which in turn could positively affect your substance use behaviours.
