| In 2000
BAYSA, Barwon Health Drug Treatment Services and YSAS formed an Alliance
to develop comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment and support services
for young people in the Barwon South West Region, including a youth
specific residential withdrawal unit, which is operated by YSAS, located
in the Geelong area.
Clockwork Young People's Health Service provides the medical support for the residential withdrawal unit and joined the Alliance in August 2002. The residential withdrawal unit is designed to provide young people with an opportunity for respite and withdrawal from their alcohol or drug use and other related problems. Treatment and care is provided in a home-like setting, within a supportive, psychologically safe and drug-free environment. In addition to providing a range of psychosocial therapies, the unit provides a complementary medicine approach along with specialist medical and nursing services including primary health care and medical management of drug and alcohol problems. For a 'virtual tour' of the unit, click here. Access to the Unit is voluntary and made via local outreach, alcohol and drug services or through YSASline: 1800 014 446 Freecall |
