Research
YSAS believes that young people and families who are experiencing serious physical, emotional and social harm due to substance use deserve the most effective care and assistance. Thus YSAS ensures that its practice is informed by the best and most recent evidence.
YSAS also seeks to improve the health and wellbeing of young people and families by contributing to the development and implementation of more effective service system and community based responses.
Engaging in ethical and rigorous research enables YSAS to:
- develop a more nuanced understanding of clients’ lived experiences, including what services they require and how they are best delivered
- develop and evaluate innovative practice approaches that demonstrate effectiveness in addressing clients’ needs
- ensure that the needs and interests of clients are accurately represented and taken seriously by policy makers, service providers and the broader community.
To further this agenda, YSAS is committed to collaborating with universities and other institutions that undertake research.
