Before I went on a 10 day paddle down the Murray I was sad, I was drinking heaps, using heaps of drugs. I was just getting wasted for months. On the paddle down the Murray it was so peaceful and beautiful and felt so calm. That trip made me make the decision to change my life. I wanted to give up drugs, I wanted to give up alcohol, and I wanted to be there for my family. I made the decision then and there. The trip changed me. My party days were over but I was homeless and at a crossroads. I decided to go on a 20km round trip of Mount Feathertop which is the second highest peak in Victoria with 20kgs backpacks. This hike was very hard. It was long and hot, I ran out of water. But it was worth it. After the hike everything else just seemed easier. Before the trip I was lazy. I always made excuses. After the hike everything was easier. Everything I could think of I could do it and now my life is fricken fine because of this fricken hike.
