I had a little girl two years ago and that is what turned my life around. I needed not to be on drugs anymore.
When I first walked through the doors at YSAS I was a bit nervous about wheter I would get on with the workers and other people. My first week was hard but by second week it was easier and if you have any problems you can just go see the workers. They are there to help you so if you have any questions or you are going through a hard stage you can just go and speak to them and see if they have any suggestions or anything like that.
I have been in YSAS a couple of times so the best things for me was coping with withdrawal and relapse prevention which really helped me through my struggles.
I felt anxiety about leaving the unit especially when you are coming off drugs. It is really hard to fit back in normal society. But the workers were great and once I felt comfortable it was like I had my own little family.
I have my future up my sleeve already I’m going to do civil construction- plan operator and I got everything set up while detoxing. They are really good to help to get you set up to go back into the real world.
I would recommend it to everyone but it is up to them if they want to do it. Come along and give it a crack. Just have a go in life.
